Motobi

Motobi was an Italian motorcycle manufacturer. Between 1950 and 1974, motorcycles were produced under this brand name.

1950 began Luigi Benelli, one of the six Benelli brothers, who had separated from the parent company in the dispute, under the brand name "Moto B" own motorcycle production in Pesaro.

The first model, the B 98, already had a box frame, the Luigi Benelli patented it. The vehicle was driven by a lying, rotating slide-controlled single-cylinder two-stroke engine block with 98 cc capacity and three-speed gearbox. In 1951 the " Super B 98 " with 115 cc. The two-cylinder model " B 200 " from 1952 first showed the characteristic Motobi " egg shape " of the engine ( " Kraftei ").

1956, the engine capacity was increased to 250 cc. Starting in 1956, four-stroke single-cylinder engine was offered, first with 125 and 175 cc, 1963 with 200 and from 1966 also with 250 cm ³. Especially the 175 cc Catria was very successful in the sport. The available in various designs, from the road model to the Scrambler models were exported in large numbers to America. Road racing machines from the tuner Zanzani constructed with 250 cm ³ were even used in the Motorcycle World Championship.

1962 Motobi returned to the Benelli headquarters. By 1974, there were single-cylinder produced under the two names Motobi and Benelli lying. The following models were then nothing in common with the " power eggs ".
