Mouhijärvi

Mouhijärvi [ ˌ mou̯ɦi jærʋi ] is a former municipality in western Finland, with around 3000 inhabitants. It is located in the countryside 41 km west of Tampere Pirkanmaa. Neighboring cities and municipalities of Mouhijärvi were Hämeenkyrö in the north, the east, and Nokia Vammala the south and west.

Mouhijärvi has two population centers: Uotsola and Häijää. In addition, the municipality includes the villages Eskola, Hahmajärvi, Hermala, Hyynilä, Iirola, Kairila, Kari, Kortesjärvi, Lampinen, Mierola, Murto, Mustianoja, Pukara, Rienilä, Ryömälä, Saikkala, Salmi, Tervamäki, Tiisala, Tomula, Tupurla, Valkama, Venesmäki, Vestola, Vesunti and Yliskallio.

The parish Mouhijärvi Created in 1639 by secession from the parish Karkku and originally included the present-day municipality of Lavia and Suodenniemi that belongs to the church today Vammala. 1867 then the municipality Mouhijärvi was founded as a result of local government reform, at the same time Lavia and Suodenniemi were released from Mouhijärvi.
