Mount Herschel

( Also written Mount Herschell ) Mount Herschel is a striking, 3,335 meters high mountain, the 2.6 km northeast of Mount Peacock towers, overlooking the endpoint of the Ironside Glacier. He is a part of the Admiralty Mountains, Victoria Land, Antarctica. The mountain was discovered in 1841 by Sir James Clark Ross, who named it after Sir John Herschel, a famous English astronomer.

In 1967, the mountain was first climbed by a group of climbers, including the New Zealand mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary.
