Mount Limbara

The Limbara is the highest mountain range in northern Sardinia. The two bald granite peaks Punta Balistreri (1363 m) and Punta sa Berritta ( 1359 m) are visible from afar. The slopes of Monte Limbara massif are nearly forested to the summit with chestnuts, oaks, pines, pine and fir.

Development

A road leads to the summit region. Trails open up the northern slopes of Mount Limbara. Trail parking spaces are located just below the summit at a chapel and some 1050 meters. The observation deck houses the meter-high statue of the black Madonna delle Neve. The figure shows the north, many locals and tourists lie here Thank you gifts and petitions down. To the east of the summit there is a transmitter of the Italian broadcasting and a disused military facility NATO.

View

From the peaks of the view across the whole of northern Sardinia ranges, in clear weather, Corsica can be seen. Tempio Pausania and Aggius are as easy to recognize nearest towns.
