Mouse Randolph

Irvin " Mouse" Randolph ( born January 22, 1909 in St. Louis, Missouri; † 12 December 1997) was an American swing and rhythm and blues trumpeter.

Randolph played in the late 1920s on riverboats with Fate Marable, then worked with numerous bands such as the Territory of Walt Farrington, Willie Austin, Art Sims, Norman Mason, Floyd Campbell, Alphonse Trent and J. Frank Terry. Finally came to Kansas City, where he was committed for Andy Kirk's Twelve Clouds of Joy band 1931-33. In 1934 he played in New York City just in the band of Fletcher Henderson and later with Benny Carter. Between 1935 and 1938 he worked among others at Lucky Millinder and Cab Calloway. In 1938 he took the title with Teddy Wilson " With Thee I Swing ," " Who Loves You " and " Tea For Two " on, played with Chu Berry ( " Maelstrom ", 1937) and in the orchestra of Lionel Hampton. From 1940 to 1942, Ella Fitzgerald was tape, 1943 Don Redman and from 1944 to 1948, he joined with Edmond Hall at New York's Cafe Society on ( " Continental Blues", 1945).

In the 1950s, Randolph took on plates with Pearl Bailey and played with various rhythm and blues orchestras; In 1955, he guested at the Savoy Ballroom and worked from 1957 with Chick Morrison in New York.
