Only my wife's sake is an American comedy film from 1948 directed by HC Potter with Cary Grant and Myrna Loy in the lead roles. Written and produced by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama, is the adaptation of the eponymous novel by Eric Hodgins.

The film was a box office hit. Warner Home Video released it on DVD in 2004. Built for the movie house still stands in Malibu State Park north of Malibu (California ) and is used by the park administration.

Action

Advertising executive Jim Blandings lives with his wife Muriel and two daughters in a small apartment in New York. Jim leans Muriel from remodeling plans and instead discovered an ad for homes in Connecticut. You buy a dilapidated 200 year old farmhouse. The friendly lawyer Bill Cole criticized the gut decision.

The old building is found to be fit for demolition. The Blandings hire architect Simms with the planning of the new building, but their elaborate special requests drive the costs up. During the construction constantly yields new problems that delay the completion of the house and plunge the family into great debt. In addition, Jim Blandings is professional problems and suspected his wife was having an affair with his best friend Bill Cole charged.
