The motor boat Oldenburg in 1958 manufactured by Roland in Bremen shipyard under the hull number 872. The ship's name comes from the former Free State and later administrative district of Oldenburg ( Lower Saxony), in its denunciation also Harlesiel Wangeroog were. The launch took place on 29 March 1958. On 6 August 1958, she was the ship service passed Wangerooge the German Federal Railroad. From 1958 to 1982 she sailed as the ferry route Harlesiel - Wangerooge. Sister ships were the Wangerooge and Münster. Then it was sold to the cruise line Warrings and used for butter trips between Leer and Wilhelmshaven.
In 1985 she was sold to the Landmark Trust in the UK and outdated. It is used today under the same name as a ferry between the island of Lundy, Bideford (Devon) and Ilfracombe. The inhabitants of the island feel today with the Oldenburg connected and have dedicated their a series of their island postage stamps marking the 50th anniversary ship.
