The Pride of Burgundy ferry is a British shipping company P & O Ferries. It is used since 1993 on the Dover -Calais.

History

The Pride of Burgundy was originally built as Ro-Ro cargo ship for the route Dover - Zeebrugge. However, it was decided to complete the ship as a ferry and use for the route from Dover to Calais. Supposedly it was originally Pride of Lille hot, but there is no evidence for this assertion. She is one of the smallest ferries on the Dover -Calais and can carry 1420 passengers and 600 cars.

On October 27, 2012, the Pride of Burgundy collided in heavy seas with the ferry Berlioz. The Pride of Burgundy was thereby damaged bridge on the right wing, however, the damage could be repaired after a few hours. The Berlioz was heavy damaged and had to repair in a dry dock.

Equipment

The Pride of Burgundy is the smallest ship of P & O Ferries on the Dover -Calais. Has nine decks, of which the deck 3 and 5, the vehicles can be accommodated. The residence and dining rooms of the passengers are on deck 7 and 8 deck are divided into smoking and Non smoking areas.

Sister ships

The Pride of Burgundy has a total of three sister ships, however, differ in some details (the European Seaway transported as cargo only and no passengers ). The sister ships are:

  • European Seaway
  • Pride of Canterbury
  • Pride of Kent

Unlike her sister ships, the Pride of Burgundy was on deck 7 next to the lounge and dining rooms also some cabins. However, these are not intended for passengers and available exclusively for the crew.
