The Skåne is the largest combined railway and ro-ro ferry in the world.
Particulars
The Yard No. 77 was built at the shipyard Astilleros Españoles in Spanish Puerta Real 1997/98 ferry, was built by order of the SweFerry AB, Helsingborg. After yet unnamed Launched in August 1997 followed the end of March 1998, the ship's christening. Technical problems followed during the test drive in May 1998, a repair and on 22 June of the same year, the handover to SweFerry. Prior to the putting was a completion in Fredericia, Denmark Skibsværft.
Since August 7, 1998, the ship sails in the ferry service between Trelleborg and Rostock on the Baltic Sea. In 2000 SweFerry was taken over by Stena Line and belonged until 2012 Scandlines AB, a subsidiary of Stena Line. After taking the other ferry Rostock - Trelleborg by Scandlines went to Stena Line also runs the Skåne since the end of 2012 in the colors of Stena Line.
