Muir Peak is a prominent rocky peak in the central part of the ridge Frazier Ridge in Founders peaks belonging to the West Antarctic Heritage Range.

The summit was mapped by the United States Geological Survey as part of the compilation of Ellsworthgebirges in the years 1961-1966 through site surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named Muir Peak by Hugh M. Muir, aurora, researchers at the United States Antarctic Research Program. Muir wintered in 1966 on the American Plateau Station.
