Municipality of Miren–Kostanjevica

Miren - Kostanjevica ( ital: Merna - Castagnevizza, German: Schmitt boxes wood) is a municipality in the Primorska region of Slovenia.

Consisting of 15 towns and hamlets total municipality has 4895 inhabitants and is located near Nova Gorica on the border with Italy. The administrative center is the village of Miren. The municipality is located in the karst area of Vipava Valley ( Vipavska dolina ).

Interesting tourist destinations include the Castle Miren from the 13th century, is the highest elevation, the Trstelj with 643 m and the many caves in the Karst.
