The Murg, also called Hauensteiner Murg or Murgbach, is a right tributary of the Rhine in Baden- Württemberg.

Geographical location and topography

The source of Murg meadows are in Hotze forest on the hills of the southern Black Forest in Loch houses south of Wehrhalden, a northern suburb of Herrischried. From there, the Murg first flows in a predominantly broad alpine valley with moderate gradient meandering south. At several points Wühre branches, long Bewässserungskanäle, of the Murg from. About a kilometer south of the valley of the Murg Hottingen goes into a deeply carved, here and gorge-like valley. The leading- here tributaries form nationally known waterfalls, first the Seelbach as großter tributary of the Murg 13 meters high Strahlbrusch, then the Lehnbach a 40 -meter-high series of waterfalls below the castle ruins Wieladingen. Only shortly before the village Murg, about 2 km upstream of the mouth of the Rhine, the Murg in the valley of the Rhine emerges from the gorge. In close proximity to the Murg is the historic water mill mill hole. It is powered by water from the Murg and still offers interested visitors the opportunity to visit. The hole mill is directly adjacent to the Murg and connects the towns Harpolingen and Oberhof. They can be reached by a paved road.

Development

Almost the entire course of the river is accompanied by a well-developed trail that Murgtalpfad.

In the upper reaches of the valley Murg is tapped by the country road 151, the leads coming from Todtmoos in the Black Forest to the town of Murg, where the road is taken up by the B34. About halfway the Murglaufs changes the L 151 valley on the ridge and approaches directly before the mouth of the river again.

The lower, narrow portion of the Murg follows a narrow public road which is closed to public traffic. The mostly dirt road with three narrow tunnel that follows the roaring torrent and the rocky wooded valley is mostly frequented by hikers and cyclists. At high water the Murg is also attractive for whitewater kayakers with heavy whitewater.

Name the same rivers
