Müritzsee

The Müritzsee is a lake in the municipality in the district of Priborn Mecklenburg Lake District. He is part of the south adjoining the Müritz lake chain. The less-structured, 200-750 meters wide body of water is about 3.6 km long. The lake has a distinctive west basin with a north-facing bay and separated by a 30 meter wide narrow -East Basin. In the north it merges into the Müritzarm. The northern lake shore and its wider surroundings, the Priborner Heath, are forested. The surrounding hills reach by Schwalbenberg with its 81.8 meters above mean sea level, the highest elevation. At the western end is the town of beech wood with a campsite right on the lake and a marina.

In various historical works the entire northerly Müritz was called Müritzsee.
