Murviel-lès-Béziers

Muriel -lès -Béziers ( Occitan: Murvièlh ) is a commune with 2883 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Hérault in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It belongs administratively to the district Béziers and Canton Murviel- lès -Béziers, whose capital it is.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 15 kilometers north- west of Beziers and 30 kilometers northeast of Narbonne in the countryside of eastern Minervois. Neighboring communities of Murviel -lès -Béziers are:

  • Cabrerolles in the north,
  • Autignac in the Northeast,
  • Saint- Geniès -de- Fontedit in the east,
  • Pailhès in the southeast
  • Thézan- lès -Béziers in the south,
  • Cazouls- lès -Béziers and Cessenon -sur- Orb, in the southwest,
  • Causses- et- Veyran in the west and
  • Saint- Nazaire -de- Ladarez in the northwest.

In the north, the area extends as far as the Regional Natural Park of Haut Languedoc. At the southeastern edge of the municipality of the Orb river, some inflows runs as the Rieutort and Taurou traverse the community.
