Musikforeningen

Music Forums Willingen ( Musikverein ) in Copenhagen is regarded as Denmark's most important innovation in the concert life of the 19th century. He was a private organization that was active from 1838 to 1931.

Especially chaired or led by Niels Gade ( 1850-90 ), the association became the meeting place for musical life in the city; it had its own symphony orchestra, including the choir. Carl Nielsen was from 1915-27 his head. Other conductors have included Franz glasses, Emil Hartmann and Franz Neruda.

History

Music Foreningen was founded in 1836. One of his main goals was to publish works by Danish composer whose non - publication would have been a loss for the arts. The association also organized concerts and music prizes awarded. The latter was soon after association establishment, the most important function of the Association; it became the leading concert institution in Copenhagen.

Gade was for 40 years - until his death in 1890 - a skillful and successful club chairman. His successor was J.P.E. Hartmann (1805 - 1900; son of Emil Hartmann). 1892 took over Neruda (1843 - 1915) the post and conducted concerts until he died in 1915.

In the early 1920s allowed the public interest after strong. This was probably due to the difficult economic times and the fact that the association was increasingly seen as old-fashioned or come over. Nielsen gave the line from 1927. His successor ebb Hamerik despite his experience will not get the club; it was dissolved in 1931.
