Mustafa Sarıgül

Mustafa Sarıgül (* November 15, 1956 in Ilic, Erzincan Province) is a Turkish writer, entrepreneur and politician. He is since 1999 the mayor of Şişli in Istanbul, where he was elected as a candidate of the Republican People's Party ( CHP), the last two times.

Mustafa Sarıgül has two children, and Emir Ömer Sarıgül. He divorced in 2008 from his second wife Aylin Kotil. His first wife died Gülsüm Köksaloğlu.

Life

Sarıgül comes from the village Güngören in Erzincan and received his primary education at the primary school in his village. As a child he had to guard goats and sheep. His father, a doorman and warehouse workers in Istanbul, Sarıgül saw only six years old. With his family moved to Istanbul, he studied at Marmara University and graduated from the Faculty of professorship beings. He then headed the IETT. In the parliamentary elections in 1987, he was elected as a member of the Sosyaldemokrat he Halkçı Parti ( SHP) with a record vote in the city of Istanbul, the youngest Member of Parliament of Turkey.

1999-2002 was Sarıgül under Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit member of the Democratic Left Party ( DSP). On 19 April 1999, he was also overwhelmingly elected mayor of Şişli - as the successor of Cuneyt Akgun. In 2002, he joined the Yeni Türkiye Partisi Foreign Minister Ismail Cem of Ipekçi before 2003 he was a member of the Republican People's Party (CHP). Within the CHP Sarıgül was an intra-party rival of Chairman Deniz Baykal and was expelled from the party in 2005. After a period as an independent, he announced in 2008, again to be a member of the DSP.

In 2009 he founded a new political movement called Movement for Change Turkey (Türkiye Değişim Hareketi ) and began to transform it into a new political party. Since [ Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu ] ] in the Republican People's Party held the party chairmanship, Sarıgül cooperates with the CHP. In the local elections in 2014, he has been Lord Mayor candidate of CHP for all of Istanbul.
