My best friend, in the original French Mon meilleur ami, is a film about a business-oriented people with no friends, who must think for a bet, how to win friends. Because he just does not want to understand that money rather charged a friendship that he has problems making friends. The music for the film comes from L' attirail.
Action
François Coste is an antique dealer who focuses only on his work and therefore completely neglected his private life. When he is at auction along with his partner Catherine and on a whim bought an antique vase, leads the enormous purchase price, which must be worn by both, the subsequent business lunch with friends to a dispute. Catherine François has indicated that probably no one would come to his funeral because he had absolutely no friends. François denies the accusation and proposes a bet. When he introduces her his best friend within ten days, it would include the vase alone, otherwise her.
François visited in the days after, his friend and business partner, but everyone from arguing, to be his friend, because everyone sees their relationship on a purely commercial basis. Even to his daughter Louise, he has a strained relationship. When François meets several times during his search to the most open-minded taxi driver Bruno, who quickly comes into conversation with people and dreams of even participate in a quiz show, François asks him to show him how to make friends. He hired a taxi for the rest of the day and can instruct themselves to address the people. However, he never realizes that he with his money rather deters people by his boast. François is the thought that perhaps Bruno could be his friend. Together they attend a football game and do something together. He asks Catherine, just as a proof of friendship would look. After they replied that a friend of someone would take a big risk, François staged insurance fraud. He asked Bruno to break into it and steal the vase now delivered to get the insurance amount. Bruno is finally at small and do as he was told. When he is at work, François turns on the light in the gallery, presenting Catherine and the other witnesses of the bet his friend Bruno. He points out that he had won the bet, because Bruno had received such a risk for him. Bruno noted that François has only used him and bursts into tears, as he had hoped to finally have once found a true friend. Out of sheer rage Bruno smashes the precious vase. Catherine François reveals that their bet from the beginning did not matter because she knew François have no friends. Later, Catherine tells him that the destroyed by Bruno vase was only an imitation, because the original could not be delivered.
To make his wrongs, François beats its competitor Delamotte, whom he had outbid at the auction the vase and was afterwards prepared to issue him a blank check for the vase, in front, to get the vase to the purchase price, if he him would do a favor. Delamotte is producer of the series Millionaire and to let Bruno take on the candidates seat. Bruno has an excellent general knowledge, but was previously rejected because of his nervousness at each casting. Now comes the surprising invitation, but he suddenly loses are forced to participate in the mission of the courage and needs of his parents. When he is asked the questions, he knows all the answers and need to million dollar question is no Joker. Only there, he comes to a halt and do not know any more advice. He leaves two answers disappear, just the ones he had already excluded. The audience is divided, so he is forced to call. The question deals with the theme of art and because he thinks no one his Joker would be familiar with it, he does not want to answer the question and go with the previously earned money. The moderator will not go him and want him to at least try it, instead of letting the Joker unused. Bruno says that he wants to call François. Subsequently, the two talk over the telephone line of the shipment. The dialogue is so fascinating that the director of the program does not dare to turn the 30 seconds of the clock. François ultimately gives him the correct answer, Bruno wins one million euros. A year later, on François ' birthday, the two meet again at a restaurant. Bruno works as taxi driver again, and both come from this week. François asks him to take on his table, and the two become friends.
