Action
The film tells the story of the painter Nikifor from Krynica. The story begins in 1960 in Krynica, where the painter Marian Włosiński works. In his studio, the old man comes Nikifor they bring out their painting materials and began to paint. Nikifor lives as a lonely old man who is neither reported nor has an ID and knows only its naive painting. He earned his living by selling his small pictures. Włosiński begins to care for the old man. Even if Nikifor is not very talkative and does not open Włosiński, they become friends. The concern for the old man is for Włosiński obsession. Nikifor suffering from open tuberculosis. Włosiński risked by the constant together with the patient to become infected themselves, and thus the health of his young family. Włosińskis Hanna keeps life with Nikifor no longer leaves with the children and her husband moved to Krakow.
Years later, in 1967, a large exhibition with the images Nikifor is opened in Warsaw. Nikifor now belongs worldwide to the most important naive painters; Włosiński neglected his own painting and cares only about the success Nikifor. Several months after the exhibition success lies Nikifor dying. Hanna comes back to Marian Włosiński in the hope that death might Nikifor is the chance of a reunion of the family.
Awards
The film received numerous national and international awards. In 2005 he won the International Film Festival of Karlovy Vary. Krystyna Feldman was also at the festival award for best actress and Krauze the award for best director. 2005, the film in the categories Best Actress, Best Cinematography guide, Best Editing, Best Art Direction and Best Sound with the Polish Film Award was awarded.
