The Steve Irwin is a former fisheries protection vessel that is used by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society for their actions and are often seen in the Whale Wars documentation.

Particulars

The ship was built in 1975 by the shipyard Hall Russell & Company in Aberdeen as a fishery protection vessel Westra of the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency ( Scottish Fisheries Board ). 2003 Westra was decommissioned and placed first. 2005 acquired the organization Sea Shepherd ship and had it rebuilt for their purposes. A helicopter deck and ship cranes to the waters of two RIBs were installed and adjusted fair and berths to the needs of the organization. Sea Shepherd ship named the first order in Robert Hunter. Robert Hunter was a Canadian who was active in the early days of the organization together with the founder of Greenpeace, Paul Watson. The ship was renamed by Robert Hunter Steve Irwin in honor of the late documentary filmmaker Steve Irwin in December 2007.

In January 2007, the ship following a complaint by Japan from the UK Ship Register has been deleted. It was then registered in the Netherlands on 8 October 2007. Last time was the ship that is primarily staffed by volunteers who participated in March 2012 in actions against Japanese whalers in the Southern Pacific.

The ship is powered by two engines. It is a twelve-cylinder engine with an output of 1,600 kW ( 2,100 hp). It has a fuel capacity of 200 tons.
