The Mykolas Romeris University, MRU (Lit.: Mykolo Romerio universitetas ) is a public university based in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.
Location
The university buildings are located in the northern border area of the city of Vilnius ( Baltupiai ), about five kilometers from the city center.
History
Originally MRU was a faculty of the School militia Minsk. The Department of the Belarusian school was reorganized several times. The university was changing names:
- Police Academy of Lithuania, Lietuvos policijos akademija (1990-1997)
- Law Academy of Lithuania, Lietuvos teisės akademija (1997-2000)
- Law University of Lithuania, Lietuvos teisės universitetas (2000-2004).
In 2004, the university its present name. It was named after Mykolas Romeris, a famous Lithuanian legal scholars, judges and lawyer. Today, with over 16,000 students, the third largest university in Lithuania.
Study
There are bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs. The lectures are held in Lithuanian, but also partly in English, French or German ( international humanitarian law, asylum and refugee law, diplomatic and consular law, Human Rights Law, etc.).
