Myrath

Myrath, formerly known as X - Tazy, is a progressive metal band from Tunisia, which was founded in 2001.

History

Malek Ben Arbia The guitarist, then 13 years old, formed X - Tazy 2001 with two friends he knew his whole childhood: Fahmi Chakrounn (drums) and Oualid Issaoui (guitar), who were both 14 years old. Then they took the bassist Zaher Ben Hamoudia and the singer Tarek Idouani on the band. During the first two years the band played cover versions of other bands from the Blues, Heavy Metal and Death Metal.

In 2003, the keyboardist studied Elyes Bouchoucha in the band, who not only took over the post on the keyboard, but also Tarek Idouani succeeded as a singer. In this new occupation Myrath played various concerts with other cover versions, especially of the common favorite band Symphony X.

At this time the band also began writing his own songs in the progressive metal style with oriental influences. After another line-up changes, the band released in March 2005, just in Tunisia, the demo album Double Face, which was produced by the band itself.

In December 2006, the band Hope with Kevin Codfert published as a producer, keyboardist of the band Adagio, the band had met at a rock festival. In June 2007, the singer Zaher Zorgati joined the band.

The album Desert Call received good reviews. Among them were 8.5 out of 10 in Rock Hard # 277 and 6 of 7 points in the Metal Hammer Issue 06 / 10th

The band completed in October 2010, an appearance on the ProgPower Europe festival, which was judged by the public as one of the best of the festival. In November and December 2011 they toured with Orphaned Land, Arkan and Artweg through Europe.
