Na'akueto La'ab

Na'akueto La'ab ( äthiop. ነዓኩቶ ለአብ ) was Negest Negus ( Emperor ) of Ethiopia and a member of Zagwe Dynasty. According Taddesse Tamrat, he was the son of Kedus Harbe.

Tradition tells how the queen Maskal Kibra her husband, King Lalibela persuaded to abdicate in favor of Na'akueto La'ab. When, however, 18 months later, the soldiers of the young king confiscated the only cow of a poor farmer for a banquet table, she persuaded Lalibela to return to the throne. Taddesse Tamrat believed that the end of the reign of Lalibela has not really been happening so peaceful. He argues that this tradition is to cover a short period in history in which Na'akueto La'ab was the starting point for malcontents in the country and despite the strict surveillance, he managed to seize the throne for a short time until Yetbarak finally ascended the throne of his father.
