Nadymsky District

The Nadymski rayon (Russian Надымский район ) is a raion in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Russia.

History

The Rajon was founded on 10 December 1930. Administrative headquarters was initially the village of Che. 1936 Nyda became the administrative center. On March 9, 1972 was finally Nadym, which was granted city rights on the same day, appointed as the new administrative center.

Economy

In the autumn of 1967 began production of natural gas. In 2005 came 40% of total Russian gas from this Rajon. The estimated gas reserve of seven billion cubic meters, while the oil reservoir estimated at 250 million tons.
