The Nagasaki (Japanese长崎 空港, Nagasaki Kuko ) is an international airport in Japan, on the island of Mishima (箕 岛) in Omura Bay, west of the city was built in Omura, Nagasaki Prefecture.
A special feature is that the existing island was almost completely transformed into a typical airport island, where the existing island area increases from 0.9 to 2.4 km ² km ² and the complete shape of the island was changed by cuttings and embankments. The Nagasaki airport is considered by the Japanese legislation as second class airport.
The construction phase lasted about 3 years, from 1972 to 1975. Then the airport was opened on 1 May 1975. The construction costs were 180 billion yen. To connect the airport to the main island of Kyushu, a 970 m long bridge was built.
There are up to the exclusion of a compound to Seoul, South Korea, and one to Shanghai, PR China only domestic routes.
