Nagata jinja

The Nagata Shrine (Japanese长 田 神社, Nagata -jinja ) is a Shinto shrine in the district of the city Nagata Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. He is said to have been built around the year 290 by the legendary Jingū - Kogo.

The Kami is dedicated to shiru koto - nushi - no-kami (usually identified with Ebisu ). On October 18 of each year, at Shinko -sai (also Ō- atari ) he visited different districts of his community. His main shrine is the only shrine in Kobe who has taken no damage during the Second World War.

In addition to the shrine Tsuki -yomi -jinja the Moon Tsukuyomi Kami is worshiped. In another side shrine is Ō- yama - kui, Sake Kami of Matsunoo shrine, the main - Kami.

The Nagata Shrine itself enjoys usually many visitors, about 800,000 pilgrims every New Year to him.

Especially popular is loosely associated to the Setsubun ceremony Tsuina (追 傩, also Oni - yarai or Oni - oi), which takes place annually on February 3, supposedly since the reign of Mommu - tennō ( 697-707 ).
