Nahemah (band)

Nahemah was a metal band from the Spanish city of Alicante. It is named after a form of the Babylonian religion, also known as Na'amah or Naamah.

History

The band was founded in 1997 as a black metal band and took two years later their first EP Eden's in Communion, which they drove themselves. Thus, the small label Iberian Moon Records became aware of Nahemah and released their first album Chrysalis, on the somewhat experimental, the band went to work. This was reacted favorably and gave Nahemah a tour supporting the band Moonspell and Alastis. About Concreto Records, the album was released in Mexico, otherwise remained Nahemah but outside its borders unnoticed.

The following years then brought profound changes with it: Nahemah took the EP The Last Human, which was never published. Subsequently, several members left the band. With new members, the band recorded the album The Second Philosophy and sent demos to various record labels. Finally, the album was released on Lifeforce Records in early 2007 and came to worldwide resonance. Even before Nahemah could go on an extensive tour, drummer José Diego got out of the band, but with Quino Jimenez replacement was found. In 2009 they had the album A New Constellation.

Music style

In the first years of their existence they played symphonic Black Metal. After some line-up changes, however, the band developed a fairly unique style that combines elements of progressive metal, post-hardcore, doom metal and ambient and has not infrequently with the band Opeth is compared.
