Street Description

The highway begins in Yeongnam in the extreme southwest of South Korea, near Mokpo. The highway has 2x2 lanes leading through the mountainous south of the country to the east and is not far from the coast. There are a few small towns in this part of the route, as Jangheung. You can reach Suncheon, a town with a population of 270,000, about 60 kilometers east of Gwangju. Here the Expressway 25 is crossed. The highway here has 2x2 lanes and leads through a hilly wooded area and winding river valleys, which are typical of South Korea. The path leads along Gwangyang with a small harbor, but here is one of the largest steel plants in the world. The Expressway has 10 sections of concrete and asphalt. Despite its proximity to the sea, it is only sometimes visible because the mountains are over 1300 meters high. The highway has therefore regularly bridges and tunnels.

Near Jinju is a junction with the Expressway 35, a major north -south highway, which runs from the south coast via Daejeon and Seoul. The highway runs first south of Jinju along and then turns inland from. Parallel to the highway here runs the route 2, which also has 2x2 lanes. The highway follows the valley of the river Namgang and reached Changwon. In Changwon the Expressway 10 runs through the city, while the Expressway 102 runs through the north of the city, for the passage of traffic to Busan. This city is also the starting point of the Expressway 45, which leads to Daegu.
