Comments on the choice

Following the election, there initially were delays in the announcement of the election results, which led to resentment among observers, political parties and the general public. Due to various inconsistencies CoD and RP requested with the support of the National Society for Human Rights and other parties a review of the election results of the parliamentary elections. In the course of the beginning of March 2005, the election results annulled by the High Court, however, declared the vote as such lawful. However, the induced recount of Voted confirmed the first election results, with a deviation of 0.3 % compared to the first counting of votes returned.

Government

The SWAPO can continue with their emphatic victory with more than two -thirds of the votes of their one-party government undisturbed.
