Naoki Matsuda

Naoki Matsuda (Japanese松田 直树Naoki Matsuda; born March 14, 1977 in Kiryu, † August 4, 2011 in Matsumoto ) was a Japanese football player. Finally, the defenders stood by Matsumoto Yamaga FC under contract.

Matsuda was formed in the footballing Maebashi Ikuei High School, before he was admitted into the professional squad of Yokohama F. Marinos 1995. Since then he has developed into one of the role models of the association. Among his greatest achievements include the profits of the J. League in 1995, 2003 and 2004 and the national Cup 2001. Between 2000 and 2002 he was also elected to the Best Eleven, a selection of the best players of last season. On August 2, 2011 Matsuda collapsed during training and was admitted to the hospital unconscious. Two days later he died of a heart attack.

National

Matsuda took the colors of the Japanese national team for the first time at the Summer Olympics in 1996. Previously, he played for the junior teams of his native country. In 1993 he was in the squad at the U- 17 World Cup in which he came to four inserts. 1995 played the defensive player with the U-20s at the World Cup in Qatar. Four years later he received his first call-up for the senior national team and played with this at the Asian Championship in 2000 in Lebanon. There he came in three games for use. His debut at the Asian Cup was the defender on 14 October 2000 at the 4-1 win against Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, he had to vacate his seat for the next two group matches and the quarter-finals. Only in the semi-finals and eventually the finals for the title Matsuda was back in action. The final, again against Saudi Arabia, won the Japanese 1-0, so the defensive player was able to celebrate his first major success in the national jersey. The following year, Matsuda was part of the banns of coach Philippe Troussier at the Confederations Cup in 2001. Japan also managed here to the finals.
