Naprzód Janow ( German forward Janow ) is a Polish ice hockey club from Janow, a district of Katowice. Since relegation from the Playoff Final in the spring of 2011, he plays in the second-rate first league.

History

The club was founded in 1920 under the name Gornik Janow as a football club. In the late 1940s, the hockey department was established, which won the early 1950s, twice the runner-up. 1962, the club was renamed Naprzód Janow. As a result, further second and third places go to the Championship - the greatest success of the club is winning the cup in 1970.

In the 1990s, the club had increasing financial problems and the best players move to city rivals GKS Katowice. In 1998, the game has stopped and not resumed until 2004. 2006 came with the second place in the first league of the resurgence in the Playoff Final, out of the club relegated again in 2011.

The club bears the full name the name of the main sponsor Akuna, a manufacturer of nutritional supplements.

Figure skating

The Department of figure skating is next to the sport of ice hockey, the most important section of the club. Well-known athletes in the section, the pairs Janina Poremska - Piotr Szczypa (Polish Champion) and Teresa Skrzek - Piotr Szczypa and Maria Kotyrba, Grazyna Dudek and Mirella Gawłowska.
