Narvin Kimball

Narvin Kimball ( born March 2, 1910 in New Orleans, Louisiana, † 17 March 2006) was an American musician of New Orleans jazz.

Narvin was the son of Henry Kimball and the pianist Jeannette Kimball and became a musician; he worked as a banjo player and a bassist, but also sang. In the 1930s, Kimball earned with his music does not have enough money and had to work as a postman. He played again until after the Jazz Revival in New Orleans and worked until the mid-1950s as a band leader and toured Europe and the United States.

He was the last surviving member of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. At the age of 57 years he became a member of the band and was at that time already 35 years postman. In the band played, among others, Willie Humphrey, Percy Humphrey, Dede Pierce, Billie Pierce, Jim Robinson, Cie Frasier, Kid Thomas Valentine and George Lewis.
