Natalia Smirnoff

Natalia Smirnoff ( born May 14, 1972 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine film director and screenwriter.

Biography

Natalia Smirnoff first began to study engineering. From the late 1990s, she made the film business away. After studying film directing at the Film School of Buenos Aires she worked for seven years as a director for television. As assistant director, she was first involved in the shooting of Marco Bechis ' award-winning drama junta in 1999. In the following years she assisted such renowned filmmakers such as Argentinian Lucrecia Martel (La Cienaga - morass, 2001 La niña santa - The Holy Girl, 2004), Héctor Olivera (Antigua vida mía, 2001), Alejandro Agresti wanted (mother, 2002; Un mundo menos peor, 2004), but also debut directors like Damián Szifron (El fondo del mar, 2003) and Jorge Gaggero ( Cama adentro, 2004). They also made ​​a name as a casting director for Martel and Ariel Rotter's award-winning drama The Other ( 2007).

In 2009, Smirnoff dropped Rompecabezas (German: " Puzzle" ) before her debut film for which she also wrote the screenplay. In the film, funded by the National Argentine Film Institute INCAA, María Onetto slipped into the role of a 50 -year-old housewife from the suburbs, which is devoted to the puzzle. Her talent for this brainteaser it brings together a multi-millionaire (played by Arturo Goetz ), with which they participate in the World Championships in Germany.

Rompecabezas found in September 2009 entry into the Cine en Construcción series of the Film Festival of San Sebastián.
