Natalya Sokolova (biathlete)

Natalia Lvovna Sokolova (Russian Наталья Львовна Соколова, Belarusian Наталля Сакалова / Natallja Sakalowa; born October 23, 1973 in Chelyabinsk) is a former Russian and occasionally launched for Belarus biathlete.

Natalia Sokolova began in 1996 with the sport of biathlon. Your World Cup debut in 1997 in Lillehammer. After a disappointing 82nd place it was used in Ruhpolding in 1999, where she (17 place) came immediately in the sprint in the points. Until 2003, she was still several times, but only sporadically used in the Russian World Cup team, and rarely reached presentable placements. Since it was not taken in the Russian team in the season 2004/ 05, she moved to Belarusian association and entered since the 2005/ 06 season for Belarus. Here it became a successful athlete. Several times she landed in the top 10, their best result was a fourth place in the pursuit of the race in Kontiolahti in 2004. Since the 2007/ 08 season it starts again for Russia. She won the overall title of the Biathlon IBU Cup 2008 /09.

Four times (2000, 2001, 2004 and 2005), she participated in the World Championships. The Russian squadron was European champion in 2004, 2001 Vice European Champion. There is also a European champion in the pursuit 2006 Langsdorf.
