Nathan Beauregard

Nathan Beauregard, whose real name was Nathan Bogard, (* 1887, 1893 or 1896 in Colbert, Mississippi, † May 15, 1970 in Memphis, Tennessee) was an American blues guitarist and singer.

Blind from birth, he has already acted early as a musician, where he first accompanied himself on the banjo, later on the guitar. His repertoire consisted, as with many of his ' peers ' first songs from the pre- blues era, and dance tracks like " Spoonful " and " Pretty Bunch of Daisies ." As part of the "race recordings" of the 1920s, he has seen many other blues musicians did with less talent into a career with recordings, while he himself had no chance to do so.

Found in the course of the folk and blues revival of the 1960s by Bill Barth in Memphis and persuaded to act as a musician, he played in the short time between his ' discovery ' in 1968 until his death in 1970 on some folk and blues festivals (eg on the documented on record 1968 Memphis Country Blues Festival) as well as on some plate samplers label Blue Thumb, Arhoolie and Adelphi.
