Nathaniel Waena

Sir Nathaniel Rahumaea Waena GCMG, CSI, KStJ (* 1945) was of 7 July 2004 to 7 July 2009, General Governor of the Solomon Islands.

Career

The Parliament of the Solomon Islands on 15 June 2004 elected him to that office, which he held until 2009. He sat down with 27 of 41 votes against his predecessor Sir John Lapli and former Prime Minister Sir Peter Kenilorea by. After his swearing in, he was appointed by Queen Elizabeth II to Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George. Successor of Waena as Governor General was on 7 July 2009 Frank Kabui.
