Frank Kabui

Sir Frank Utu Ofagioro Kabui, GCMG, OBE (* April 1946 in Malaita Province ) is a former judge and since 2009 the Governor General of the Solomon Islands.

Biography

After school he studied law at the University of Papua New Guinea and graduated in 1975 as the first Salomoner a law degree from. He then worked as a lawyer before he was in 1980 appointed as the first local 1980 Attorney General of the Solomon Islands and occupy this position until 1994. Subsequently, he was initially 1994 to 1998 Chairman of the Law Reform Commission and was appointed after a judge of the High Court. With the completion of the sixtieth year of life, he joined in April 2006 to retire and was again chairman of the Law Reform Commission. In addition to this position he was again a lawyer and at the same time twice President of the Bar Association of the Solomon Islands Bar Association ( SIBA ).

On 15 June 2009 he was elected by the National Parliament of the Solomon Islands in the fourth round of voting with 30 votes as the new Governor-General. He was against the Chairman of the Commission for Public Service, Edmund Andresen, who received eight votes, his predecessor Nathaniel Waena ( 7 votes ) enforce the former Prime Minister and current President of Parliament Peter Kenilorea and five other candidates.

According to the official, appointed by Queen Elizabeth II, he took office as Governor-General officially on 7 July 2009. On 9 October 2009, the Queen gave him a knighthood of the Order of St Michael and St George, so that he henceforth the title " Sir " leads.
