National Assembly for Wales election, 2003

The elections to the National Assembly for Wales in 2003 were the second elections to the newly established in 1999, the National Assembly in Cardiff and took place on 1 May 2003. Were elected 60 deputies, 40 of them in constituencies by relative majority vote and 20 from party lists in five regions. After the re-election of Plaid MPs Lord ( Dafydd ) Elis -Thomas to ( more neutral and non-voting ) Parliament Speaker Labour reached a razor-thin majority and formed under the re-elected First Minister Rhodri Morgan, a one-party government. After leaving the Labour MP Peter Law in early 2005, the Labour government again lost its majority and ruled until the end of the legislative period with changing majorities.
