National Museum, Kraków

The National Museum in Krakow (Polish Muzeum Narodowe in Krakow ) was established by virtue of the Decision of the Council of the City of Krakow on October 7, 1879.

In the beginning, the museum consisted of two rooms on the upper floor of the Cloth Hall ( Cloth Hall ) in the middle of the main market.

The museum's collections grew thanks to generous donations. They included works of painting, graphics, sculpture, arts and crafts, and a coin collection.

The museum received new exhibition spaces in historic buildings, including in homes of deceased artists Krakow.

1934, the construction of new, modern museum building was begun. The first rooms were in 1970 passed the final building was completed in 1990.
