Native American Music Awards

The Native American Music Award ( Nammy ) is a music award that pays tribute to the indigenous artists from all over North America. The Native American Music Award was created by record companies such as Canyon, SOAR, Silver Wave and Turtle Iceland into being in 1998. In the annual awards ceremony artists are honored in more than 30 categories. All recent Grammy winner for the Native American Music category previously won the Nammy.

Award winners are, inter alia, Joanne Shenandoah, Rita Coolidge, Cheryl Bear, Fara Palmer, Mary Youngblood, Bill Miller, Jana Mashonee, Brule, Felipe Rose, R. Carlos Nakai, Micki Free, Black Eagle, Tom Bee, Northern Cree, John Trudell, Blackfire, Jackson Browne Robert Mirabal and Janice Marie Johnson.

NAMA Hall of Fame

Rickey Medlocke ( Blackfoot, Lynyrd Skynyrd ), Janice Marie Johnson (A Taste of Honey ), Pat Vegas and Tony Bellamy ( Redbone ), Felipe Rose ( Village People ), Crystal Gayle and Jimi Hendrix were among others included in the NAMA Hall of Fame.
