Natuzza Evolo

Natuzza Evolo ( born August 23, 1924 in Parvati at Mileto, † November 1, 2009 at Parvati Mileto was an Italian mystic, and founder of the Prayer Cenacle.

Biography

Natuzza came from a poor and large family from Calabria. Her father tried to help the family and emigrated already when she was a little girl, to Argentina. But he never came back to Italy, so that Natuzza grew up without a father. She had to early care for their siblings and help her mother in the household. Thus, her schooling was limited. Her Education resembled that of a nearly illiterate.

She married a carpenter, with whom she had five children. On 26 July 1936, she received the stigmata of Christ's suffering. In 1944 she had a vision in which she was asked to build a big house to alleviate the hardships of the young, the sick and needy people. On 13 May 1987, the then Bishop of Mileto Domenico Tarcisio Cortese recognized the Community of Prayer Cenacle. Incurred on their initiative in their hometown, the social Christian centers Pasquale Colloca and San Francesco di Paola.

Funeral

At their funeral on 4 November 2009 gave her six Italian bishops, priests and more than one hundred thirty thousand mourners on his final journey.
