Navan
Navan ( Irish: Navan - the cave - An older term Odbha gespr Ova ) is a city and the administrative center of County Meath in Ireland with 28,179 inhabitants.
Geography
Navan is located 42 meters above sea level, at the confluence of the Blackwater and Boyne, 28 kilometers northwest of Dublin.
History
In the 12th century it became the Pale by Hugh de Lacey (Lord of Trim ) had built a wall around the place. This evolved over time into a commercial center.
The seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Meath was then located in Navan, until he was moved to a dispute with the bishop to Mullingar.

Dunmoe Castle: Just before the village lies the 400 year old ruin of ' Dunmoe Castle'.

Economy
In Navan are the Tara Mines, Europe's largest lead and zinc mine. Navan was also famous for its carpets; the company " Navan Carpets " concluded, however, in 2003. Nowadays, the main industry is the furniture industry.
Traffic
There is in place only a train ride away, but very good bus links to Busáras in Dublin. In autumn 2009, work began to restore the railway connection with Dublin; the completion of the line is expected after 2015.
Navan is located on the National Road N3.
Twinning
Navan is twinned with the two Italian communities Bobbio in Emilia -Romagna and Lazio in Broccostella.
