Navy Occupation Service Medal

The Navy Occupation Service Medal was a military award of the U.S. Armed Forces. The first ceremony took place in the Year 1946. The Order was awarded to members of the Armed Forces U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard who have served after the Second World War, at least 90 days in the occupied parts of Europe and Asia. To coin has two different band conditions on which the respective of use Europe or Asia is noted. The assignment of the Navy Occupation Service Medal ended with the German reunification on 3 October 1990.

A special stage with the bar of a small plane was assigned during the Berlin Blockade.

This military decoration awarded in the following regions and time periods:

  • Italy (November 8, 1945 to December 15, 1947 )
  • Trieste (May 8, 1945 to October 25, 1954 )
  • Germany (8 May 1945-5 Mai 1955)
  • Austria (May 8, 1945 to October 25, 1955 )
  • West Berlin (May 8, 1945 to October 3, 1990 )
  • Pacific (September 2, 1947 to April 27, 1952 )

The equivalent of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force was the Army of Occupation Medal.
