Necdet ÃœruÄŸ

Mustafa Necdet Üruğ ( born 1921 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish general, the last from 1983 to 1987 Chief of General Staff ( Genelkurmay Başkanı ) of the Turkish Armed Forces ( Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri ) was.

Life

After visiting the military academy of Bursa Üruğ resigned as an officer cadet in 1939 in the Military School ( Harp Okulu ), which he left in 1941 as a Warrant Officer of the Artillery. After the subsequent visit to the artillery school, he found 1942-1948 uses in various military units before he was from 1948 to 1950 graduated from the Military Academy ( Harp Akademisi ). After its completion he was employed until 1966 as an officer and staff officer in various military units.

1966 Üruğ was promoted to brigadier general and was initially set up by Deputy General Secretary of the military coup of May 27, 1960 National Security Council ( Millî Güvenlik Kurulu ) and then Head of the Strategic Planning Department of the General Staff of Turkey. After his promotion to lieutenant general in 1973 Üruğ became head of the Directorate for Planning and guidelines in the General Staff and then took over the office of the Commanding General of the XV. Corps.

In 1977 he was promoted to General and took over in 1978 as a successor to Nurettin Ersin, the Office of the Commander of the 1st Army.
