Neil Davidson, Baron Davidson of Glen Clova

Neil Forbes Davidson, Baron Davidson of Glen Clova QC (* September 13, 1950 ) is a Scottish lawyer and former Advocate General for Scotland.

Background

Davidson was born as the son of John and Flora Davidson, and studied at the University of Stirling with a BA, graduated from the University of Bradford his MSc and recorded at the University of Edinburgh his LLB, LLM and was established in 1979 in the Faculty of Advocates. He is particularly concerned with economic and administrative law.

Career

In 1979 he was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates, and registered in 1982 as Standing Junior Counsel to the Registrar General. He was appointed in 1990 a member of the Barristers in England and Wales at the Inner Temple and 1993 's Counsel in Scotland. From 1993 to 2000 he was director of the City Disputes Panel, and on 24 February 2000, he was appointed Solicitor General for Scotland. He held this post until November 2001. He is a member of the Bar 11 King 's Bench Walk Chambers, which was founded by former Lord Chancellor Lord Irvine of Lairg.

In March 2006 it was announced that the Prime Minister Tony Blair had proposed him for the position as Advocate General for Scotland, which had been vacant since the resignation of Lynda Clark, Baroness Clark of Calton on 18 January of the year. He was raised on 22 March as Baron Davidson of Glen Clova for Life Peer, and went for the Labour Party in the House of Lords. At the 2010 election he lost his seat to the challenger Jim Wallace of the Liberal Democrats, former Deputy First Minister of Scotland.

Davidson is co-author of Judicial Review in Scotland ( 1986). It was in 1998 for the International Commission of Jurists de ' chief mission in Egypt.
