Neil Dewar

Neil Hamilton Dewar ( born November 11, 1908 in Lochgilphead, Argyllshire, † January 10, 1982 ) was a Scottish football player. The striker played for professional clubs in Scotland and England, and came to the Scottish national team to three inserts.

Career

Dewar grew up in the fishing village of Lochgilphead on Loch Fyne and began his professional career at the age of 21 Scottish second division club Third Lanark. In 1931 he rose to Lanark in the highest Scottish league on and took went straight to number 4 In January 1933, left Dewar, after 124 goals in four seasons, his Scottish homeland and moved for £ 5000 to England to Manchester United in the Football League Second Division. By the end of the year he scored 14 goals in 36 league missions before he was transferred in December 1933 in exchange for Jack Ball to Sheffield Wednesday in the First Division.

While he finished in 1935 with Sheffield nor the third place in the standings, the rankings deteriorated dramatically in the next two years. 1936, was third from bottom, 1937, rose as Table from from the English top flight and Dewar returned to 84 inserts back to his first professional club Third Lanark. In 1940 he retired from active football.

1932 brought Dewar on three caps for the Scottish national team. He made his debut on April 9, 1932 as part of the British Home Championship in 1932 against England (final score 0:3). A month later, he scored in a friendly match against France at the Stade Olympique de Colombes a hat-trick in a 3-1 success in his country. Also in his third and last international match in October 1932 he contributed a hit, but his country was subject to selection Wales as part of the British Home Championship in 1933 clearly with 2:5.
