Neil Roberts (Welsh footballer)

Neil Wyn Roberts ( born April 7, 1978 in Wrexham ) is a former Welsh footballer who played at Rhyl FC in the League of Wales.

Career

Association

Neil Roberts began his career in 1994 at Wrexham FC, where he completed 75 games in six years, where he met 17 times. In February 2000, he spent 500,000 pounds sterling to Wigan Athletic. There he got a regular place at first, but was loaned to Hull City and 2004 at Bradford City in 2002. After 126 games and 19 goals for Wigan, he joined in October 2004 on the Doncaster Rovers. In July 2006 he returned to Wrexham FC and got there the captain's armband. In the first two games, he hit twice, once on August 20 against Chester City and three days later in the League Cup against Sheffield Wednesday. On September 9, he was injured in a 2-1 victory over Swindon Town. Less than a month later, he was against Milton Keynes Dons his comeback, scoring in a 2-1 victory 1-0 ahead. In May 2008, he left the club because Wrexham descent into Football Conference.

On 24 June 2008 he moved to his home in Wales to Rhyl FC. There he played from the outset in the starting lineup and finished 33 games, scored 20 goals that finished fourth in the scoring charts. In 2009, he took a post at the head of the English top club Manchester City.

National

In 1999, Roberts for his first international cap for the Welsh national football team. However, he was only perspective players in the national team and graduated on 27 May 2004 his last international game for Wales. Roberts came up with four international appearances for his country.
