Augusto Tomar Marcos Nélson ( born June 10, 1983 in Sal, Cape Verde ), called Nélson, is a Portuguese football player with Cape Verdean roots.

Career

Association

Nélson began his professional career in 2002 with the Portuguese Vilanovense FC. The following year he moved to SC Salgueiros and the 2004/05 season to Boavista. From 2005 he fulfilled a three-year contract at Benfica. 2008 he moved to the Spanish Segunda División club Betis Sevilla. In the 2010/11 season he played on loan for the first league CA Osasuna. Then he returned to Betis, which was also ascended to the Primera División in the meantime. In January 2013 Nélson joined the Italian first division side U.S. Palermo. For the 2013/14 season he was loaned for a year at the Spanish Erstligaaufsteiger UD Almería.

National

2006 Marcos played in the U-21 national team of Portugal. It was also used in the European Championship qualification in 2008 and graduated in Portugal some friendlies. His most single game for the senior team, he played in March 2009 against South Africa.
