The hybrid catmint ( Nepeta × faassenii ) is a plant of the genus Catnip ( Nepeta ) in the mint family ( Lamiaceae).
Features
The hybrid Catnip is a perennial herbaceous plant, the plant height of 25 to 50, rarely up to 75 centimeters reached. The leaf blade is narrow ovate to lanceolate with trimmed or throaty reason. The calyx is 5-6 mm long. The crown is 6 to 12 millimeters long. The nutlets are probably always sterile.
System
The hybrid catnip is a nepetella 1853 resulting hybrids of the two species Nepeta racemosa and Nepeta. You can still differentiate only focus of the two parental species. The specific epithet honors the Dutch plant breeders Johannes Hubertus Faassen ( 1892-1963 ).
Use
The varieties of hybrid catnip scattered used as an ornamental plant in borders and limitations.
