Nephilengys

Nephilengys borbonica

Nephilengys is a genus of tropical spiders of the family Nephilidae ( silk spinning) (formerly the Family Araneidae ( Wunderlich, 2004) and Tetragnathidae ( Kuntner, 2006) assigned ), which currently counts six types. In some sources, this genus is also called with hermit spiders ( " recluse spiders ").

This species builds a tubular retreat into their networks, which is used when you feel disturbed the spiders. As with the related genus Nephila, the females are considerably larger than the males. In the N. malabariensis example, the females are 20 mm in size, the male being only 4 mm.

The male N. cruentata live in the power of the female.
