Netlib
Netlib is a software library for scientific computing, the AT & T, Bell Laboratories, the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory entertained. Netlib includes a large number of different programs and program libraries. Most of the code is written in Fortran.
History
The project began in 1980 with the distribution of e-mail in UUCP, ARPANET and CSNET.
The code base of Netlib was written at a time when software was still not a commodity. Therefore, there are no license agreements for most programs. Much of the code has been written by employees of the U.S. government and is therefore in the public domain. This also applies to SLATEC. The license of some other packages is not definitively clear.
Netlib is indicated by the Guide to Available Mathematical Software.
